What to hand your accountant.
KW Shares does not give tax advice. What follows is a description of the records the organization provides so you and your tax professional can decide how to treat your giving.
What you receive
- A year-end statement listing every contribution recorded under your name and the date each one was received.
- A receipt from Square for any one-time gift you make through the website. Square sends this directly to the email address you enter at checkout.
What to confirm with your own advisor
Whether a contribution is deductible, and how much of it is, depends on your own return. Deduction limits, itemizing versus the standard deduction, and how a gift made through your business is treated are all questions for your tax professional. KW Shares does not answer them.
Records the organization keeps
If a statement is missing or a figure looks wrong, write to contact@kwshares.org and the board will reconcile it against the fund records.
This page describes the organization’s record-keeping. It is not tax advice, and it is not a substitute for guidance from a qualified professional who knows your situation. Ask a question.
